About Us

The office of Nevada Consumer Affairs serves as the State of Nevada's consumer advocate. We provide enforcement of the state's consumer protection laws for consumers that live in, work in and visit Nevada. In addition, our mission is to protect consumers from unfair and deceptive business practices and to provide education to prevent consumers from becoming victims of fraud.

    What We Can and Can't Do


    Our office investigates consumer complaints pertaining to deceptive and fraudulent business practices.  Areas that NCA may investigate include, but are not limited to:

    • Pyramid promotional schemes
    • Solicitations for or on behalf of charitable organizations
    • Sales promotions
    • Door-to-door sales
    • Sellers of travel, sightseeing tours
    • Dance studios, health clubs
    • Credit service organizations, discount purchase clubs
    • Grant writing services
    • Telecommunications services


    • Provide legal advice
    • Provide law enforcement assistance
    • Resolve personal disputes

      Steps to Resolve a Dispute and File a Complaint

      1) Contact the business directly to attempt to find a resolution

      2) Document the steps you have taken to resolve the issue

      3) Gather supporting documents related to your claim including contracts, receipts, copies of correspondence, canceled checks, bank statements, etc.

      4) If you are unable to resolve the complaint with the business directly, file a complaint with Nevada Consumer Affairs
